Reichtstagsgebäude
The Reichstag Building in Berlin

In the sitting week of the German parliament, 222 SPD representatives meet every Tuesday to discuss upcoming decisions. During this parliamentary session the parliamentarians debate future ideas, concerns, plans and intentions and prepare for their meetings in plenum. It is not possible that every representative has an expert to advise them on all topics, however, we always ensure that we are well-informed and to the best of our ability reach an agreement on all future policies. A special position within our parliament is the role of the chairman and his representatives. The chairman oversees the work of his representatives, who are specialists in certain political fields, these include: domestic matters, environmental issues and the budget. The chairman works closely together with the different working groups and their speakers.

Political Work in Berlin

Politics for you, our citizens

The work that I do for the people in my constituency goes hand in hand with my daily priorities in Berlin. In Berlin, I am a member of the finance and sport committees and I am responsible for several topics within my party, the SPD. The first topic that I am currently concerned with is Germany’s relationship in the European Union, particularly focusing on the economy. The second topic is the reduction of beauracracy in the finance committee and the third is my interaction within the sport committee. Link more...

The parliamentary sports committee

The parliamentary sport committee was designed to promote sports on the national level. The committee works with many different sport federations to promote a high quality within sports. The federal government contributes a significant amount of money to sport projects and the remaining costs are financed by the federations themselves. The committee’s role is to act as a mediator in the allocation of money within sports. In addition, they have formulated the correct framework in which to regulate issues such as gambling and doping, not only within sports, but also within society itself. The sports committee perceives this as its main priority. Link more...

Sitting week in Berlin

In the parliamentary week, a normal day begins at 8. On Mondays, I take meetings in my Biberach office and then in the afternoon I travel to Berlin to represent my constituency. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, there are many working groups to see and many parliamentary and committee meetings to attend. Thursdays and Fridays are usually reserved for the plenum of the parliament. The work with parliamentarians and committees is always interesting because you can interact with many foreign guests and representatives from a variety of different associations. Link more...
