The work that I do for the people in my constituency goes hand in hand with my daily priorities in Berlin. In Berlin, I am a member of the finance and sport committees and I am responsible for several topics within my party, the SPD. The first topic that I am currently concerned with is Germany’s relationship in the European Union, particularly focusing on the economy. The second topic is the reduction of beauracracy in the finance committee and the third is my interaction within the sport committee. I am concerned with the dangers and consequences that extremism and violence bring into sport today. In addition, I am also concerned with the effects of these issues that occur everyday within our society.
As representative speaker of the SPD work-committee and the sport-committee, I am able to offer regular public positions and speeches on this matter and I hope to aid in the progression of the fight against right-extremism and the devastating impact that this ideology and propaganda, can have on many. I believe it is my political duty to inform you, the public, about decided policies that we can use together to combat the fight against right-extremism and violence and in turn the suffering that follows.
As one knows this illusion of explicit nationalism that these groups want to enforce will indefinitely lead to tyranny and in the end always fail. The SPD, together with its supporters, will work together to ensure this can never happen here in Germany.
Moreover, I am always engaged with government concerns and also the effects from the clubs and community life that we have in both our region and in our Country. As representative member of New Media, I am very interested in the various opportunities and risks that communication technology can bring with it. During Autumn 2007, I was a member of the newly established project group focused on the European constitution, however, even though my membership has ceased, I continue to be concerned with European economic, political and social growth.
